Ingredients

  • Fish ( any carp or sweet wather fidh is perfect for this recipe. I am using Rohu fish)
  • Potato
  • Tomato
  • Drumstick
  • Ginger
  • Green chilli
  • Whole cumin and dry chilli
  • Turmeric powder
  • Black pepper powder
  • Signature dry roast spice mix
  • Masturd oli ( you can use any vegetable oil)
  • Salt

Preparation of ingredients

  • Cut the fish in Indian curry cut and marinate with traditional marinade. Fry 80%
  • Cut potato into 1cm wide long strip
  • Remove outer skin of drumstick and cut onto 3-4 cm pieces
  • Gret or paste ginger
  • Slit green chilli
  • Chop tomato

How to cook Why Indian Fish Curry with Drumstick and potato

Follow this section word by word. You can cook this recipe as it is with no cooking skills.

Heat up oil in the cooking pot. When it starts to smoke add whole cumin and dry chilli to temper the oil. Add potato. stir the potato to coat with oil completely. Cover with a lid and fry on medium heat. When the potato starts to brown add tomato and drumstick. Add some salt and stir. Cook 1-2 minutes lid on. Add ginger, green chilli and turmeric powder and cook until oil starts to separate from all ingredients. Add water and crank up the heat. When water starts to boil add fish and cover with a lid. Cook for 7-8 minutes. Open the lid, adjust salt now to your taste. Add signature dry roast spice mix and black pepper powder. Stir once carefully not breaking the fish pieces, cover with a lid and cook another 5 minutes lowering the heat. Voila, you are done. Serve with rice like traditional Indian home food.

Pro tips

  • marinate fish atleast 10 minutes to get best flavour
  • Add fish to oil when its very hot during frying. If the oil is now hot enough fish can break.
  • When cooking all ingredients together if it burns sticking at bottom of cooking pot add 2 tsp of water.
